Bottesford Town tomorrow and the last of the pre-season friendlies.

My back is now better!!

Scarborough Athletic 6-2 Eastfield St James

Wow, what a cracker of a game.

A low-key PSF that exceeded all expectations.

The ball was hardly in midfield at all. Proper end-to-end football.

It siled it down throughout and the crowd was sparse, shame really 'cos the stay aways really missed a treat.

Well done to Eastfield St James for their part.

The crowd was given as 135, so it wasn't quite our lowest ever.

Nice article in the Yorkshire Post today.

Good article in todays Yorkshire Post :

Dream lives on as Scarborough seek return to their roots

It is articles like this that gladden my heart. Playing down the in NCEL can mean you are off the footballing radar to a certain degree - publicity like this is priceless.

How many 1000's will read this article?

Eastfield (St James) on Tuesday 28th

Looks like Scarborough Athletic F.C. have a hastily arranged pre-season friendly game organised for Tuesday night (28th July).

The 28th July has long been penciled in as a friendly match night but it has suffered a few jinxes along the way.

Firstly Guiseley AFC were unable to play (claiming they knew nothing of the fixture) and then replacement team Yorkshire Amateur pulled out (in a hissy fit, claiming we had poached one of their players and they didn't want to risk any more being nicked).

I don't suppose there will be much of a crowd at Queensgate, short notice and all that

Could be our lowest crowd ever (currently 100 for a mid-season friendly against Winterton Rangers in 2007/08)

Goole AFC 2-2 Scarborough Athletic

Encouraging result.

So far this pre-season we have drawn each away game 2-2!

There is only one more scheduled PSF game to go; away at Bottesford Town a week henceforth. What price a 2-2 draw there? Actually a draw at Bottesford would be regarded as a disappointment seeing as we are now one level higher than them.

My back pain is not as acute as earlier on this week, but it is still there!

Goole tomorrow.

The second time we have played them since formation.

In the pre-season of 2007/08 (our first season) we were beaten fairly comfortably (3-0)at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.

It will be interesting to see how we fare this time (and an indication of how far along the road of progress we have trod) - Goole may have Leo Fortune-West & Chris Tate playing for them. Fortune-West would arguably be the most famous player we have encountered up to press and Tate is a former player at the old Scarborough F.C.

Whitby Town 2-2 Scarborough Athletic

I didn't go........I didn't go.

The Turnbull remains on the 'not been there' list. Hopefully I can put that right when both clubs are in the same league.

Last nights friendly would appear to have been a poor 1st half followed by an exciting second.

Whitby put out a team of trialists, but scored just after the break. Boro then took command and leveled through a Routledge header before going on to take the lead via a Hartley strike.

But apparently our keeper had a 'mare and let Whitby in for a comical equaliser (he also cocked up for their first goal). Ah well - if you are going to have a stinker then have it in a meaninless pre-season friendly I say!!

Whitby tonight

Whitby Town v Scarborough Athletic tonight in a pre-season friendly.

Funnily enough I have never actually stepped inside the Turnbull Ground. I have been past it or near it a hundred times or more but never gone in.

Will I put this anomaly right tonight? Time will tell.

My back is still giving me jip by the way!

Back Ache

I have been lucky in that I have never really had back pain - until yesterday that is.

Don't think it is anything particularly serious, just pulled something or trapped nerve.

Taking painkillers every 4 hours or so and hoping that the pain buggers off. It hurts to type!

You do take good health for granted - don't you?

Scarborough Athletic 4 - 1 Grimsby Town XI

Encouraging performance in this afternoons pre-season friendly against a Grimsby Town XI.

Even the inevitable plethora of substitutions didn’t disrupt the flow of the game too much……..and mega substitutions normally destroy a game as a spectacle.

Of course PSF's mean nothing, or I should say the results mean nothing, but there is no denying the fact we looked a good footballing side today.

It will be interesting to see how we get on this coming Tuesday up at Whitby.

A night out in Hunmanby

Went out for a few drinks last night in the White Swan in Hunmanby, a very nice village pub about 8 miles south of Scarborough.

The landlord surprised me with his knowledge of Scarborough Athletic, it seems that quite a few of his regulars follow the Seadogs and he is kept up to date by them. He said he would attempt to get to some games this season but unfortunately Saturday afternoons are a peak time for his pub.

Lack of inspiration and twittering

I have just realised something; If you create a blog then you really need to have something to say on a fairly regular basis. Today I lack inspiration and it is only my third day blogging. Hmmm.

I do have an excuse (of sorts), I purport to blog about supporting Scarborough Athletic F.C. and the season aint started yet........ the PSF's have though so copy fodder may soon start flying towards my head and fingers.

Tamely I will offer a twitter site that has appeared on the scene - www.twitter.com/seadogupdate

It looks to be a handy way of keeping upto date with Seadog news.

....A Seadog created a blog

Day No 2 of the blog.

Heavy rain falls hard on the southern outskirts of Scarborough.

Supposed to be going metal-detecting this eve with my pal SB but it could be a case of "rain-stops-play".

Footballing wise we are into the pre-season friendly stages and the sense of optimism that a new season brings is starting to take hold. I can never get over-exited about friendlies, to me they are just glorified practice games.....but they are the harbinger of football proper so I don't totally dislike them.

Scarborough Athletic F.C. already have one PSF game under their belts (a 2-2 draw away at fellow NCELP outfit Winterton Rangers last weekend) and this Saturday they will be entertaining a youthfull Grimsby Town XI at our adopted Queensgate home, it will be interesting to see how the Seadogs fare against potential Football League players.

And in the beginning

Day No 1 of my blog.

From little acorns........

Lets see how it zooms out.

I have called this blog 'SeadogBlog' because that is the nickname of Scarborough Athletic F.C. (and their late , lamented, predecessor team Scarborough F.C.) and that's who I support! In fact I am a part-owner of the club, along with another 600 (ish) like-minded souls.....also it scans quite nicely. I think.

It won't be just football though, I hope to type merrily away on such diverse subjects as metal detecting (a great hobby) , the Royal Navy ( I spent 24 years in the mob, leaving in 1999) & my family and friends......I will invent names for some of my friends to in order to stop solicitors getting rich on my account!

This is a slow start to my blogging career - just watch me get better.

Starting tomorrow with day No 2.
