11 Expressions Of Interest To Develop Leisure Village (& Football Ground) In Scarborough

Scarborough Borough Council has received 11 expressions of interest to develop a new leisure village in Scarborough.

The brief prepared by the council for seeking expressions of interest from potential private sector developers is to design and construct a new football ground, to a standard equivalent to Football Association Grade C, and new leisure facilities on the site of the former Weaponness park and ride facility in the southern area of the town.

The whole process through to completion of construction is anticipated to take around three years and it is hoped that football will be able to return to the town for the season 2014/15.

Scarborough Athletic FC - Seadogs March On In FA Vase

The Seadogs beat Landlords Bridlington Town 3-1 last night at a busy Queensgate. Over 700 saw Bridlington take the lead only to be overhauled by two Ryan Blott strikes (one a penalty) and a late Rob Northen goal which secured FA Vase progress.

Sadly there was a bit of crowd trouble at the end, what a shame.
Why can't people hold their drink? - It was a minority though and the vast majority of  Brid and Scarborough fans mingled perfectly well.

The first and third Boro goals have been captured on video HERE

Armthorpe Welfare will visit the Seadogs in the 2nd Round on 13th November

Scarborough Athletic FC To Look Pretty In Pink For Breast Cancer Care!

There will be something a little bit different about Scarborough Athletic FC on Saturday 23rd October when they come out onto the Queensgate pitch to vie for three points with Brighouse Town in the NCEL Premier.
That is because the Seadogs will be looking "pretty in pink" in order to raise funds for BREAST CANCER CARE.

Yes the lads will be donning a pink playing kit for this game! Full details of the day and how you can help the Seadogs contribute to this most excellent cause are HERE

You may notice from reading the link that the club are encouraging spectators to don some pink themselves! Seadog Blog has had a quick search of his wardrobe and notes (being a manly sort of man) that he doesn't have owt pink. Time to consult with Seadogess Blog on this methinks, she does have some pink mittens - will they fit my hands?

Well done to the board for this magnificent fundraising idea - Seadogs (and Scarborians as a whole) are a generous lot and I am sure a very decent amount will be raised.

Scarborough Athletic FC - The Players Are Equal Owners As Society Membership Rises!

Seadog Blog is delighted to read news that the majority of Scarborough Athletic FC's players have joined the Society - joining the ranks of almost 600 others who are equal club owners!

Read the story HERE

The membership currently stands at 590 and rising weekly thanks to a recruitment drive headed by Boro fans Andy Crossland and Fred Firman (and others)

Seadog Blog encourages all Seadogs (and others sympathetic to the cause of fan-owned football) to join the trust - it's great to have equal ownership of a football club. You also get a certificate and snazzy enamel badge.

The easiest way (IMO) to join is to to sign up online HERE

The next landmark figure is 600, it would be great to get into the 1,000's!

Scarborough Athletic 4-0 Dinnington Town - Boro Turn On The Style

Last night Scarborough Athletic finally got their 2010/11 NCEL Premier campaign up and running. After a draw and loss it was time for a win and that is just what the Seadog loyal got.

Boro outplayed Dinnington Town whose ill discipline saw them down to 10 men with 35 minutes to go.

The final score was Scarborough Athletic 4-0 Dinnington Town and the Boro goals came from Blott (x2) , Hotte & substitute Scott Phillips.

The crowd was a respectable 358, not bad given the counter attraction of the televised Switzerland v England international.

Two very good match reports HERE and HERE

Here is a very blurred image of Blotty knocking in his penalty (his 2nd goal and Boro's 3rd)

The team left the pitch to a standing ovation and all Seadogs will be looking forward to Saturday when they travel to the West Riding to take on Liversedge.

FA Vase Joy For Scarborough Athletic FC On Non League Football Day

There was FA Vase joy for Scarborough Athletic on Non League Day as the Seadogs brushed aside Seaham Red Star with some ease.

Three unanswered goals and three strikes of the woodwork gave a good idea of how the day went.

A crowd of 194 was significantly higher than Seaham's norm. A full match report can be read HERE

Boro took the lead from a fine Frank Belt strike from just outside the penalty area

Just after half-time Ryan Blott coverted a penalty to make it 2-0 to the Boro

And just before the final whistle Billy Law broke through to notch the third.

Many thanks to James Hunter who took the match photographs.

So a fine win that sets Boro up for the next round (2nd Qualifying) which will be a rare home cup-tie against Crook Town AFC of the Northern League Division Two.

This game will take place Saturday 18th September at Queensgate, Bridlington and of course if the Seadogs prevail then it will be our landlords who await in the 1st Round proper.

More Positive Developments Re Weaponess Sports Village

Seadog Blog has learned that Scarborough Borough Council have invited tender interests for the construction of sports facilities which includes a new football ground.

Full details can be read here:- UK-Scarborough: construction work of leisure facilities

The bit that caught Seadog Blogs eye the most was this:

II.3)DURATION OF THE CONTRACT OR TIME-LIMIT FOR COMPLETION
Starting 29.8.2012. Completion 24.9.2013

It would seem to be another very positive bit of news for all Seadogs who yearn for a return to our home town.
