Funky Times Ahead For Scarborough Athletic FC

Yesterday's worst-kept NCEL secret was finally revealed yesterday tea-time when it was announced that the successor to Paul Olsson as Scarborough Athletic FC manager would be none other than Rudy Funk, late of Shirebrook Town & Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Funk Leaves Shirebrook To Join Scarborough Athletic

Rudy is no stranger to The Seadogs and his Rainworth Miners Welfare team knocked us out of the NCEL Wilkingson Sword Trophy (0-1 aet) in only Boro's third ever competitive fixture. The two clubs were both promoted together in 2008/09 (Scarborough Athletic as Champs, Rainworth MW as runners up) and the following season Rainworth finished runners-up to Bridlington Town and took the promotion spot that Brid didn't want.

Mr Funk did very well with The 'Wrens' gaining three promotions in all with them. More recently he has helped steady a very wobbly Shirebrook Town and put them back on an even keel.

Seadog Blog warmly welcomes Rudy Funk to the Yorkshire Coast and wishes him yet another successful stint in the NCEL.
