Ex-Seadog Leo Bertos plays in the World Cup Finals

Leo Bertos has today made a little bit of Scarborough football history.

He plays for New Zealand today in their World Cup fixture against Slovakia.

This makes him the first (and very very probably the only) former player of Scarborough Football Club to play in the World Cup Finals.*

To be truthful Leo's Seadog career was brief and not particularly distinguished. He played just the once (in 2005-06) and that one game ended in a 1-5 reverse away at Forest Green Rovers.

But once a Seadog, always a Seadog so hearty congratulations to him.

*Gordon Banks did guest in goal for Scarborough FC in the 1970's but that was in a Anglo-Italian tournament and not a competitive league fixture.
