There is a growing momentum for unity for football in Scarborough, led, not least, by the current chairman of Scarborough Athletic FC.
If you are unaware, two clubs sprang up from the liquidation of Scarborough FC - Athletic in 2007 and Town in 2008.
In the recent past relations between the two clubs have been cool to say the least with both outfits competing for the affections of local supporters and oh-so-sparse sponsorship money. Internet trolling on the messageboards has not helped the situation and it has all been a big turn-off to many neutrals.
The most ridiculous and saddening aspect of all this is that until July 2007 all Town and Athletic supporters were brothers & sisters who supported Scarborough FC. Now we are divided and neither club will be able to realise their full potential.
It does not have to be this way.
