Progress on a new Sports Village & new ground for Scarborough Athletic FC?

Scarborough Borough Council will hold a Cabinet meeting at 10am on Tuesday, 22nd June, 2010 that could prove to be fundamental for the future of Scarborough Athletic F.C and other many other sporting interests in Scarborough.

On the agenda for the meeting is item A8  "Development of Sports Village" and the Cabinet are asked to "consider a joint report by the Strategic Director (Hilary Jones) and Head of Tourism and Culture"

Please read the agenda item in full here Agenda Item A8  (it is in PDF format)

Having read and digested this item Seadog Blog finds renewed optimism flowing through his veins.

It should be noted that the two signatories to the item (Council officials Brian Bennett and Hilary Jones) will both be in attendance at the Fans Forum to be held on Wednesday 7th July at 7.30pm to speak about the Weaponness Valley Sports Village project.

Everyone is invited to attend, not just SAFC fans.

The date may be changed at short notice if England should be playing in the World Cup semi's on that nigh

It is very important that as many Seadogs as possible are in attendance to ask questions of the two councillors and the board of Scarborough Athletic. This is vital. It is not just important; nearly everything revolves round it.

If you have read the article you will have seen reference made to the Princes Park home of Dartford F.C.

Below is a panoramic view of this ground and that should get the juices of anticipation going. A hat-tip to tims92 who provided the picture.
