Saturday 4th September is NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL DAY

Over the last week Seadog Blog has become aware of a growing on-line campaign to make Saturday 4th September 2010 the "Non-League Football Day".

This particular date has been singled out because it is an International Weekend and there are no Premiership or Championship matches scheduled.

Of course for Seadogs every matchday is a non-league football day - or at least it has been since 8th May 1999 when the old Scarborough F.C. cruelly lost their League status (Thank YOU very much Mr Jimmy Glass if you're reading this) but the real idea is to encourage those fans who would normally attend a top-flight game to seek out their local non-league club and give them a bit of support instead.

There are several ways of getting involved - the primary one must surely be attending a game yourself (bringing a mate or five as well).

You can also show on-line support by both joining the Non-League Football Day Facebook Event page set up by the campaigners and following @non_league_day on twitter (make sure you use the twitter hashtag #nonleagueday on all your Non-League Football Day tweets).

For the record Scarborough Athletic FC will be in FA Vase action at Seaham Red Star.
