Scarborough Athletic FC: Pre-Season Friendlies Completed for 2010/11

Scarborough Athletic drew 1-1 at Harrogate Railway today to wrap up this seasons series of pre-season friendlies.

Boro took the lead as early as the 4th minute with a 30-yarder from Botham. The Seadogs held on until the last minute when Harrogate Railway equalised with a penalty.

That concluded our pre-season. All the games were played on the road as our Queensgate home was unavailable due to reseeding work.

The basic stats are as follows: P6 W4 D2 L0 GF20 GA4

Of the six games, three of them took place against teams from the Step 4 Evo-Stick League Division 1 with Boro winning one (at Ossett Albion) and drawing the other two (at Goole AFC and Harrogate Railway).

The other friendlies were at local league Eastfield St James, Step 6 Barton Town Old Boys and of course the Supporters Direct Shield game v Step 6 Merthyr Town (played at  Telford). Boro won all three of these with a varying degree of comfort (0-9, 1-5 & 0-2).

So Boro can boast an unbeaten build-up to the season with the added boost of some silverwear to polish. Not bad at all.

Of course, a good pre-season (or a bad one for that matter) is absolutely no guarantee of how the season proper will pan out but, despite how notoriously unreliable they can be as guides, this set of warm-ups has installed a feeling of optimism at Seadog Blog Towers.

So on this upbeat mood let's bring on the 2010/11 season which starts next Saturday at home against Lincoln Moorlands Railway
