Thackley FC 1-3 Scarborough Athletic - Presidents Cup Joy For Seadogs

After the calypso collapso against Hallam last Saturday all Seadogs were in search for a bit of a morale booster - and soon.

They got one & in the required timescale.

Boro travelled to Thackley to take the homesters on in the 2nd round of the NCEL Presidents Cup and duly raised spirits by triumphing 1-3.

Goals from Law, Medcalf & Blott gave The Seadogs a commanding lead but Thackley hit back to make it 1-3 and those knock-kneed types (like your humble blogger) afeared the worst. Oh we of little faith as Boro never looked like repeating the Hallam horrorshow.

The crowd was a humble 97 which must be one of the lowest competitive gatherings we have seen since formation. Nearly all Seadogs as well.

So into the semi-final of the Presidents cup we go. Scarborough Athletic have reached the final of this competition before and came a two-legged cropper against Nostell MW. There are 6 teams left in the hat so we await the draw with anticipation - Only Boro & Brid are through for sure just now.

A lot of fans see these intra-league cups as a bit of a needless distraction, but not Seadog Blog. I love 'em.
